Cine star Dileep leads voluntary blood donation camp at THQ

Malayalam cine star Mr. Dileep, recently donated blood at the THQ Hospital in Aluva and by doing so mobilized several of his fans to do so. His mission was to ensure voluntary blood donation, so that no blood bank in Kerala routinely insists on replacement. This, the cine star believes would bridge the existing gap in the state of 3.5 million units per annum.

The blood donation function led by Mr. Dileep was chaired by Municipal chairperson Adv. Smitha C. Gopi. Dr. C. M. Hyderali, treasurer, MG Committee welcomed the gathering and secretary G. P. Charitable Trust proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. G. Babu, President, IMA Madhya Kerala delivered the keynote address. Mr. Francis Thomas, chairman, Health Standing Committee and Mr. Nijo, consultant (Youth Affairs) Kerala State AIDS Control Society were among those who offered felicitations.

During the function Mr. Dileep made an emotional appeal to his fans, who came from as far as Kasaragod to Nemom in Thiruvananthapuram to take leadership in the noble campaign for voluntary blood donation. Dr. Susheela Innah, Prof. and Head, Dept. of Transfusion Medicine took awareness class. Mr. Dileep stayed back for the camp to be with his fans.
