Manav Yathra: Awareness campaign to be launched soon
The Red Ribbon Clubs will organize a grand awareness campaign, Manav Yathra, aimed at creating awareness on HIV AIDS and promoting voluntary blood donation from the last week of October. The Yathra is organized under the auspices of KSACS. Classes on HIV will be taken by experts at The Yathra, the HIV positives will share their experiences. Art forms and exhibitions will also be organized. A Blood Donation Camp will also be conducted. The Yathra will last for 20 days in each district.
In the first session, The Yathra will visit 50 campuses in Ernakulam and Kozhikode districts. A meeting of the KSACS officials and the National Service Scheme officers organized at Thiruvananthapuram discussed and finalized the conduct of the program.
Red Ribbon Clubs will be formed in 194 more colleges in the state. A decision in this regard was taken at the meeting. There are 186 Red Ribbon Clubs functioning on various campuses in the state now. Dr. T.V. Velayudhan, Additional Project Director, KSACS, Mr. Samuel Chellayya, Youth Affairs Officer, Ms. Anitha Sankar, State Liaison Officer, NSS, Mr. S. Ajai Kumar, Joint Director, IEC, KSACS, Mr. C. Jayachandran, Dy.Director, Finance and Mr. V.J. Nijo, Consultant, Youth Affairs attended the meeting.
