Here is a happy news for HIV positives in Ernakulam. An ART Centre has started functioning in the district. So far, the positives here in the district had to shuttle to Thrissur and Kottayam for taking ART.

The centre was inaugurated by Health Minister, smt. PK Sreemathy. Dr.Usha Titus IAS, secretary, Social Welfare Department, Dr TV Velayudhan, Additional Project Director, Kerala State AIDS Control Society were present at the function.

The link ART which was functioning at the General Hospital was stopped functioning. On December 3, 2009 a full-fledged ART Centre was started functioning at the General Hospital adjacent to Main OP Block, Ernakulam.
