The state-level inauguration of the formation of a national force of one million blood donors was inaugurated by Dr. Susela Innah, Joint Director, Blood Safety, KSACS in Chalakkudi. The force which would be formed by KCYM, youth wing of Kerala Catholic Churches would be provided technical support from KSACS.

Dr. Suseela pointed out that KCYMs venture will ensure blood safety and avoid the death of patients without getting blood on time. Voluntary blood donation will stop the spread of fatal diseases caused by the practice of blood sale. She also pointed out that creating awareness among women is necessary in the state as only 3% of the 3 lakh blood donors in the state are women.

Mr. Joseph Thomas, President, State, KCYM inaugurated the function. Fr. Dr. Francis Allappat, Director, Jubilee Mission Medical College, Fr. Jayson Collannur, Director, State, KCYM, S. Ajai Kumar, Joint Director, IEC, KSACS, Santhosh Arackal, General Secretary, State, KCYM, Ananthasivan, Area Manager, HLFPPT, and Mr. V.J. Nijo, Consultant,Youth Affairs, KSACS addressed the gathering.

At the voluntary blood donation camp organized as part of the function, 50 women donated blood. Around 400 women from 29 parishes all over the state participated at the program.
