Vanitha Society observes International Women's Day
International Women's Day programme was observed in a notable manner by the Vanitha Society. It was the first attempt in the history of Kerala as well as an innovative move by the Vanitha Society to come out from their own limitations and inhibitions.
Even though it was not marked by mass participation, it was appreciated by everyone for the courage to overcome the challenges and stigma from its own community members.
During the rally organized as part of the programme, some of the major issues, currently faced by women were highlighted. The rally at 3.00 p.m. from the Vanitha Society's office and moved through CH Over-bridge, Mananchira, Muthalakulam, Taj Road and concluded at Kidson Corner. All the staff and supporters of Vanitha Society gathered at Kidson Corner for the valedictory function.
Mr. Titto Thomas, Director CSRD was the chief guest during the valedictory function, which was presided by Ms. Sarojini, President of Vanitha Society and Director of the TI Vanitha Suraksha Project. Ms. Sajitha welcomed all the supporters and community members to the function. Felicitation speeches were done by Ms. Raji Joseph, Ms. Devu and Ms. Radhamani. Treasurer, Vanitha Society. Ms. Safiya delivered the vote of thanks.
